About UEFA Euro 2024

UEFA Euro 2024, officially known as the 2024 UEFA European Football Championship, will be the 17th edition of the UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Europe organized by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). It is scheduled to be held in Germany from 14 June to 14 July 2024.

History and Format

The UEFA European Championship, commonly called the Euros, was first held in 1960. The tournament format has evolved over time, but the current format, which was introduced in 1996, consists of a qualifying phase and a final tournament. The qualifying phase is a round-robin competition, with the top teams from each group advancing to the final tournament. The final tournament is a single-elimination bracket, with the winner being crowned the European champion.

Host Selection and Venues

The host nation for UEFA Euro 2024 is Germany, which was selected by UEFA's Executive Committee on 27 September 2018. The tournament will be played in 10 cities across Germany: Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Gelsenkirchen, Hamburg, Leipzig, Munich, and Stuttgart. The final will be held at the Olympiastadion in Berlin.

Qualification

The qualification phase for UEFA Euro 2024 began in March 2023 and will conclude in November 2023. A total of 53 UEFA member nations will compete for the 24 spots in the final tournament. The teams will be divided into 10 groups of five teams and four groups of six teams. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the final tournament.
