Goals From Sentnor, Dahlien Help Send U.S. To FIFA U20 Round Of 16

Two Second-Half Goals Power United States Past Costa Rica

Dahlien's 68th-Minute Strike Proves to be Game-Winner

The United States booked their place in the knockout round at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Costa Rica in their final Group B match on Thursday. Goals from Taylor Sentnor and Mia Dahlien sealed the win for the Americans, who finished second in the group behind Spain.

Sentnor opened the scoring in the 52nd minute when she headed home a cross from Charlotte Kohler. Dahlien doubled the lead 16 minutes later with a powerful shot from outside the area. Costa Rica had a few chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to find a way past the U.S. defense.

The United States will face the winner of Group A in the Round of 16 on Sunday. Their opponent will be either Nigeria, Ghana, or the Netherlands. The Americans will be confident of their chances of reaching the quarterfinals, having won all three of their group matches.
